A New Era in Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis: The Promise of Blood-Based Biomarkers for Better Management and Treatment

Main Article Content

Abstract

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, various awareness activities are organized throughout the globe. Alzheimer’s disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia, represents one of the greatest challenges to healthy ageing and public health. Its progressive deterioration of memory, cognition, behaviour, and functional independence places a considerable burden on patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare systems. Although research has advanced our understanding of the disease, delayed diagnosis remains a major obstacle to timely intervention1. The emergence of blood-based biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease therefore represents a significant milestone in modern neuroscience and clinical practice.
