Abstract

Recent policy decisions by the Government of India have made it possible for retailers such as Wal-Mai to consider market entry into the Indian retail sector Based on a literature review o f Wal-Mart and i innovative strategies, this research delineates tfim plications for both Wal-Mart an d the Indian retail sector as this market entry is contemplated. The pap begins with a historical background of Wal-Martar the history an d growth o f the retail sector in Indi Further, the paper proceeds to clearly underscore tstrateg icimplications f o r Wal-Mart in the international market with unique characteristi The paper concludes with caveats and challenge that Wal-Mart's business model will pose for ti Indian retail sector.
