An Empirical Study of Training and Development In Different Types of Travel Agencies In India

Abstract

Training and Development Plays a Critical Role in Developing Professionalism in the Business of Tourism and Travel Agency Operations.  However, Past Research Reveals That Training is Being Largely Carried Out in a Haphazard  and Uncoordinated Manner Among Travel Agencies.  This Study Has Been Carried Out to Explore the Training  and  Was Conducted on 450 Employees  Development Initiatives in Different  Types of Travel Agencies Across India. The Study  From 50 Travel Agencies Across India. A Structured Questionnaire on the Role of Training and Existing Policies  Was Administered. The Results Show That There is a Significant Difference Among the Agencies on Training Environment, Training Benefits, Role  of Training and Commitment to Training. Also, the Results Indicate While the Employees of the Travel Agencies Understand the Training  Benefits, There is a Significant  Gap  Outlook to Training  and  in the Existing Training Policies, Commitment to Training, Training Practices, Role of Training, Employee  Training Environment From What It Should Be. It is an Area of Concern Since the Quality  of Trained Manpower  is  the Key Factors Contributing to the Service Quality in the Travel and Tourism Industry.
