Abstract

This paper discusses the effectiveness of media relations in creating awareness of human rights issues and seeks to identify lessons that can be learned from various events in order to make sound recommendations to the journalistic profession and human rights organizations for the protection of human rights. The main objective of this study is to improve the quality and consistency of work in the area of media relations.

The proposed study focuses on the role of the media in providing accurate, reliable, and timely information on issues involving human rights. A detailed quantitative study would show that various forms of media—such as print media (dailies, monthlies, bimonthlies, weeklies, and fortnightlies), electronic media (television and radio), and other media (posters, bulletins, the internet, hoardings, etc.)—devote significant attention to this subject.
