Abstract

Education and values are the two sides of the same coin. Education is widely accepted as the essential tool for the attainment of desired goal. It is the principal instrument in awakening the child to cultural heritage. Education without value is equal to praying deity without bhakti. Man, values and education is a scared triangle, where education is a vital medium to foster and perpetuate values in man. Parents, teachers and society are concerned about values and value oriented education. Teachers are the dynamics forces to inculcate values in students. Teacher should have a clear and clean image among students. Every teacher should view life as a process of valuation and drive the same into head, heart and hand of every learner. The teacher is the principal agency for implementing educational programs at various levels. The role of teacher in this context is not going to be easy and smooth. The teacher has to perform two functions, first, has to play an important role in the transformation of knowledge based on the syllabus and secondly he should be a key factor in the transformation of our value system .The teacher is trusted by the students, parents and the society as a 'guru' with all the hallowed association of that word and this trust must be rapid by honest service in globalized world.
